CyberDuck appears to have known issues operating with a setup like ours, especially for HTTPS traffic to a site like Rackspace. Yes it is missing perhaps some features that you may get in other ftp programs but since it is free and feature rich it is more than likely to fit the needs of the majority of users CONS While using the server side of things you can use Cyberduck as a file manager as it allows creating duplicate copies of files, creating new folders, deleting files and a simple way to set up permissions to files which is very important on many web-sites to help control access and security. One of the major challenges with instructional design is selecting the correct tools to build learning experiences. This version of augmented reality that is adapted for education can be utilized in an online learning environment and can be utilized by instructional designers. The application also translates spoken word in real time, which allows all learners to access audio in written form, in their own language, online or in-person. This augmented reality is ground breaking because this allows online learners to access content in other languages. This application provides users with tools to translate between languages and they now include an image option users take a photograph of a sign, piece of paper, or other form of written text and receive a translation in the language of their choice. Google Translate is now a form of augmented reality and is adapted for educational purposes. All these things that just don’t work right are sapping our life blood away. It’s all so exhausting to describe, let alone to use. So you go back into WhatsApp, say, to paste in the translated response, and instead you’re pasting in something you had previously copied, because your attempted copy didn’t take, because it was too busy telling you that it couldn’t add to your history for some unknown reason. It’s super annoying because it’s a pop up that keeps you from doing what you thought you were doing, like copying the translation. Then these error messages start coming in with every translation. Try again later.” Everything works fine with a new installation of the app, for a few weeks. I just want to ask about the continual problem with “Can’t add to history. But some things it resolutely does not want to learn to improve and I’m not sure why. The translator works pretty well for the languages I use. Translates well for the most part, but some issues. Posted on March 21st, 2010 at 4:41 pm by fkdsan Here is a video demo of the GodFinger app on the iPhone If you have a different iTunes account, such as the US, hang out and wait a few days/weeks until GodFinger is released in your area, and expect to be blown away. Note: As of this writing, GodFinger is only available for the Canada App Store. GodFinger is one of many upcoming ngmoco games as it pursues the Freeminum business model for its iPhone games. GodFinger uses the ngmoco Plus+ social network to handle invitations and integration with Twitter and Facebook. You can grow and literally expand your planet using these powers to fill with more followers. Your powers as a god come in the form of power-ups including the ability to cast Sun, rain, lightning, fire and flood. The game doesn’t force you to be nice, so your God persona can either be kind or evil. In GodFinger, you can put your followers to work and have them create new buildings as you reap the benefits. This isn’t exactly like gaining followers on your Twitter account. At first you have a single person living on your tiny planet, and as you improve your powers and gain more followers, you gain more gold and continue your growth and so forth. Wanna play god on your iPhone? GodFinger is the new resource management game from ngmoco, where you are in charge of the inhabitants of a small planet and their environment. Teddy Bridgewater went from New Orleans to Carolina.Tom Brady went from New England to Tampa Bay.Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Imagesīefore looking at a Kaepernick-Cam comparison, here are some of the offseason quarterback moves around the NFL: Of note, Cam Newton remains a free agent after getting released from the Carolina Panthers.Ĭam Newton #1 of the Carolina Panthers and Colin Kaepernick #7 of the San Francisco 49ers shake hands after the the NFC Divisional Playoff Game at Bank of America Stadium on Januin Charlotte, North Carolina. However, after a topsy turvy offseason on the quarterback carousel, teams would need to look hard before signing him. Now Kaepernick is the talk of football fans who believe he deserves to be back on an NFL team. The Ravens worried about a PR nightmare and a shellacking at the ticket office, so they backed off. The Seahawks felt Kaepernick was a starter, but they already had Russell Wilson. There had been teams interested in signing Kaepernick-Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens in particular-but no team signed him for one reason or another. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder." "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick said in a post-game press conference in 2016. It was during preseason of 2016 when Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality. Kaepernick has not started an NFL game, or appeared on any roster, since the 2016 season. Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaeperninck's name usually resurfaces along with such protests, and many players are calling for an NFL team to sign him. In his first four seasons, he’s already set the Panthers’ franchise record for most combined yards in a career, most passing touchdowns in a game (five, which he accomplished three times) and consecutive completions (15).Ĭan you beat Cam Newton’s Wonderlic score? His 21 represents the average for all NFL players, so are you above or below average? Find out now.Nationwide protests for racial justice and police reform have led sports figures to bring back talk of kneeling during the national anthem to support the protests. Newton’s 2015 accolades also included the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award (in large part due to leading the league in touchdowns), Bert Bell Award and Ed Block Courage Award. In 2015, he earned a first-team All-Pro selection while winning the NFL MVP Award and leading his team to the Super Bowl before losing to Denver. He won the 2011 NFL Rookie of the Year Award and was named to his first of three Pro Bowls that year. Cam Newton StatsĬam Newton’s career stats are young and impressive. The Cam Newton draft class had plenty of Wonderlic wizards, but only one Cam Newton. Gabbert scored an impressive 42, followed by Kaepernick’s 37 and Ponder’s 35. Cam Newton’s Wonderlic score was 21, right around the average of all NFL players and five below the quarterback average of 26.Īside from Locker’s score of 20, all other players scored well above average. How much did the Wonderlic score factor in Carolina’s decision to select Newton over those other quarterbacks? Apparently, none. Notably, Colin Kaepernick was chosen early in the second round. Newton was one of four quarterbacks chosen in the first round that year, along with Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder. In 2011, Newton entered the NFL draft and was chosen first overall by the Carolina Panthers. He chose Auburn, where he won the 2010 Heisman Trophy and 2011 National Championship. There, he won the 2009 NJCAA National Football Championship as he was simultaneously being recruited by other Division I schools. Cam Newton began his college career at Florida as Tim Tebow’s backup before transferring Binn College in Texas. The actual length varied depending upon where the event was held. First included in the Olympics in 680 B.C., drivers raced in both four and two-horse chariot races.Īccording to Miller, the race consisted of 12 laps around a hippodrome, or horse track, and then 12 times in the opposite direction. Greek hero and king of Argos n Amphiaraus depicted competing in a chariot race in a relief dating to the 4th century B.C.Ĭhariot races were one of the oldest Greek sports-artistic evidence on ancient pottery suggests that the event dates back to the Mycenean Period from 1600 to 1100 B.C., and the poet Homer describes a chariot race held at the funeral of Patroclus in the Iliad, Giannopoulou notes. Here are some of the sports in which ancient Greek athletes competed. “Her life was spared, but in the aftermath the trainers were required to attend the Games in the nude.” “When caught, she defended herself by saying that she of all women should be allowed to attend having had a father, three brothers, a son, and a nephew who had among themselves won eight times,” says Giannopoulou. There was one legendary exception- Kallipateira of Rhodes, who disguised herself as a male trainer so she could watch her son’s boxing match. The Greeks didn’t have team sports, only individual competitions, and they didn’t allow women to compete in events-or even, in the case of married women, to attend the games. “If you wanted to compete in the Olympics, you had to show up at least a month early to train under the watch of the officials, who presumably would weed out anybody who wasn’t up to the level of competition,” Lunt says. The athletes who competed in these events most likely were well-to-do Greeks who could afford to train instead of having to work for a living. The Crown Games, as these competitions collectively were known, featured a range of events, from chariot races to track and field events and combat sports. In addition to the Olympics every four years, they held games at other religious festivals-the Pythian Games for Apollo at Delphi, the Isthmian Games for Poseidon and the Nemean Games, which honored Zeus. The Greeks also simply loved to watch competitions. “Physical strength and prowess were also signs of moral strength, denoting self-discipline, hard work, and dedication to winning.” Athletes were seen as the epitome of arete, a Greek word that means virtue or excellence. “The Greeks valued physical and athletic prowess, and the toned male body was sought after as aesthetically pleasing,” says Zina Giannopoulou, an associate professor of classics at the University of California, Irvine who has compared the ancient and modern Olympics. As Lunt notes, every Greek city had its own gymnasium, where local males took off their clothes and competed in the nude at various sports, such as wrestling and foot races. The ancient Greeks may have loved sports because males grew up participating in them. As Lunt says, “They were pretty crazy for these athletes.” Lunt cites the example of Theagenes of Thasos, a champion boxer, runner and competitor in Pankration, the ancient equivalent of mixed martial arts, who was so idolized for his athletic prowess that archaeologists in the 1930s found an altar at which he was venerated, centuries after his death. “They commissioned poems to be sung about them, and they told stories about statues of athletes that could heal people." “The Greeks believed that athletes had special powers,” explains David Lunt, an associate professor of history at Southern Utah University who is an expert on ancient Greek athletics and author of The Crown Games of Ancient Greece: Archaeology, Athletes and Heroes. More than that, they were the first culture in which people idolized their favorite athletic superstars, to a level that even today’s most fanatical sports fans might find extreme. The ancient Greeks, who staged the first formal Olympic Games in 776 B.C., gave the world the idea of organized big-time sports events as entertainment for arenas full of spectators. Sam Loveridge of GamesRadar+ criticized the lack of visual clarity during chaotic bouts of gameplay and the sluggish controls while stating, ".when you're in the midst of a level, all of the frustrations melt away, because after all this is really an experience that you aim to have with friends." Mitch Vogel of Nintendo Life and Stephen Tailby of Push Square praised the improvements in presentation and performance the game made over its predecessor. Michael Leri of GameRevolution gave the game a 9 out of 10 and praised the game's ability to consistently remain fresh with teamwork-rewarding cooperative gameplay, dynamic level mechanics, and soundtrack. In comparing the title with its predecessor, Andrew Reiner of Game Informer praised the title for its online play and for being less frustrating due to more forgiving scoring and level gating. Johnny Chiodini of Eurogamer recommended the title, writing, " Overcooked 2 may be more of an improved recipe than a completely new menu, but it remains an excellent sequel and a delightful co-op experience", and praised the increased difficulty. Jordan Devore of Destructoid called Overcooked 2 "one of the best co-op titles around" while praising the dynamic level design and frantic gameplay while taking minor issue with the basic recipes and a lack of snappy feel in the Nintendo Switch port. Several reviewers noted that while it did not feel like a significant evolution of the formula established by Overcooked!, it was a strong sequel. Overcooked 2 received "generally positive" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Atop the base game, the developers created cosmetic add-on content, such as a platypus character costume exclusive to the Nintendo Switch release and a pack of other character costumes as pre-order bonus. It was announced a month prior, at E3 2018. It was developed by Team17 alongside Ghost Town Games, and published by Team17. Overcooked 2 was released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One platforms on August 7, 2018. The sequel introduces ingredient tossing, such that players can throw items to another chef or pot from far away, and online multiplayer, in which teams can connect either across a local wireless network or through online matchmaking. Other levels transition between settings and recipes, such as one that begins with preparing salads in a hot air balloon and ends crashlanded in a sushi kitchen. Some levels have moving floors and other obstacles that complicate the cooking process, including portals, moving walkways, and impassable fires. The sequel builds atop the original game, which was released in 2016, with new interactive levels, restaurant themes, chef costumes, and recipes. Between coordinating short orders and bumping into each other's characters, the game tends to overwhelm. Players gather, chop, and cook ingredients, combine them on plates, serve dishes, and wash dishes. In the cooking simulator game Overcooked 2, teams of up to four players cooperatively prepare and cook orders in absurd restaurants. |
